As a small business owner, what a time to be alive. Designer is a fun tool that Microsoft offers through its CoPilot A.I.
I like to run fun, creative advertisements on social media, and I thought it'd be cool to document the process for others to follow along. Each week I'm going to run a different ad on FB that is generated by artificial intelligence.
----
I wanted to go with the most popular keywords that people use to find my website, and see if we could find the next Facebook ad cover to run.
I started with 'window cleaning palm desert' and it served up a complete miss. Here are a couple of examples...What on earth am I looking at?
It suggested I add a window and some cleaning supplies if I wasn't happy with what it drew....okay. let's check that out.
Well, these were a bunch of duds. Generic terms don't really seem to accomplish the goal...and for some reason they think window cleaners can use their squeegee poles to fly like something out of Hogwarts.
What I've discovered so far around A.I. is that the better descriptions you give it, the better the results. And as somebody with a lot of ideas, but zero artistic ability to carry them out this is a miracle. Let's get the creative hat on....
"a cartoon ad of a man cleaning a window on a house with a squeegee in a desert setting. The man wears a shirt that says DSRT WASH on it."
Now we're onto something...
Let's add even more detail...
"a window cleaning ad for a business in Palm Desert, CA called DSRT WASH. Phone number 760-469-9046. A cartoon/picasso style ad that shows a man cleaning the windows of a house in Palm Desert, CA."
and lastly... "An ad for a window cleaning business called DSRT WASH. The ad should be a Palm Springs style. In the ad I want to see a man cleaning the windows of a Palm Springs style home in a desert setting."
We could have a couple of winners here. I feel like both capture the bright personalities of the Palm Springs metro area, and also would catch the eye of somebody scrolling through social media.
I decided for this week to go with the brighter of the two options. The last step was for me to load the image and make some minor adjustments in GIMP Photo Editor (Free software).
All-in-all this entire process took me about an hour to do...so let's see how it does this week. Would love to hear any feedback.
